hello how are you?: gender & punk house bathrooms

SO i wanna discuss “punk bathrooms as a way of keeping an implicit male space” today because it is a topic i have been thinking about a lot. this discussion is kind of like, gender-binary-y, but i assume it works the same for all female-bodied people without like, a go girl or other similar…

Apparently, you can also pee standing up by using your hands. But then you’d have to wash them. Personally, I’m ok with just hovering or going outside and squatting- with some practice you learn to pee really really fast. Now I always go to bathrooms and people are like, “SHIT that was fast!” It’s learnable I think. Also personally, I don’t think it’s the end of the world if there’s no toilet paper- I mean there isn’t when you go outside either. Just stop peeing really fast so that you don’t get any on yrself. One of the punk houses in Montreal has a great poster about how to use your hands to pee standing up in it. I’m still not comfortable doing that though, I just feel like it’s icky imo to get pee on my hands.
